So many new pieces of jewelry made and added to the collection for summer 2015!  The top row includes earrings of domed copper that have been hammered and carefully stamped with “Love Ya”. Next is a pair of mixed metal earrings, this combination has been quite popular at craft shows!  In these earrings, the top circle is sterling silver while the bottom is copper, both circle are hammered to reflect the light!

In the second row you find a hand-cut hammered copper heart on a snake chain as well as a hand-formed sterling silver Treble Clef necklace on a sterling silver chain.  Each of these pieces would make a fabulous graduation gift this season!

If supporting small, local business is important to you, take heart that all of my jewelry is made in the USA, Upstate New York specifically by myself- Betsy Murray!

You can find the top earrings as well as the Treble Clef on my etsy shop~ Sunshine On Water

If you would like the Copper Heart just send a comment and we can chat about getting you this beautiful necklace!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day….

Necklace on to warmer weather

Snow, Snow, Snow….We have almost 8 inches of snow in Upstate New York, not to mention cold, cold weather!  Technically, it’s not even winter yet!   Last week, I made this letter B pendant with sterling silver.   I hand-formed the letter, silver soldered, cleaned and polished it until it was bright and shiny!  The necklace chain is sterling silver as well and looks nice with the pendant.  I strive to make jewelry that is both beautiful and functional at the same time….I keep the size of my jewelry on the smaller side but not tiny.   My initials are generally around 1″ in size.  If you have a beautiful piece of jewelry, you want to enjoy wearing it on a daily basis!

This necklace is on to warmer weather this week… I shipped it out to Jacksonville, Florida the other day!

Sterling Silver Initial necklaces

Posted on Updated on

These were a few custom order necklaces I made this week.  All are made with sterling silver which I buy from a small town in New Mexico.  I make some letters uppercase, some lower case… just depends on the order and the letter.  I am a bit partial to the lower case letters in sterling silver though!

I like a challenge and I work hard  to incorporate clean lines with a beautiful design in order to create unique jewelry!   Everything is hand-made by me, each is “one-of-a-kind.”  I recently listed more cursive initial necklaces in my etsy shop, Sunshine On Water.  The link to see them is: !

I have some quiet time here so I am off to get a little work done for my upcoming show at the Rochester Museum and Science Center!  Looking forward to it!

Hand-made equals unique!

The past few weeks were busy with some fun custom orders!  All of which were unique and one-of-a-kind!   Uniqueness, that is what I love about making custom orders!  The ability to make something special for someone, whether it’s for a gift or the customer!

Over the past two weeks I made a few birthstone necklaces, one 5th Anniversary gift and 2 pair of earrings.  I make every component of my jewelry except the stones or glass beads I use.

When I first started making jewelry I knew I could do it, I just didn’t know HOW MUCH I could do myself… after much frustration, I decided to do it all myself!  I knew I could, especially with the knowledge I had from an amazing Metal/Jewelry class at SUNY College at Brockport.   Now, I strive to make all the metal components I use myself.  From the pendants, initials and jump rings, each are made by me.  I come up with what works and go with that.  If an idea comes to me, something that would look beautiful on a necklace chain, I try to form it and see how it turns out!

I make all the earring hooks, jump rings and connection pieces I use with sterling silver wire.  Part of the reason I do this is so I know what kind of metal I’m incorporating into my jewelry but another part of me loves the challenge, the ability to create!  This is one of the latest birthstone pendants I made…

Sneak peak on some new work!

Good morning from sunny Florida! The ocean is beautiful, the waves cascading and palm trees swaying in the breeze. I am so appreciative of it all! I was out on the beach working on some new designs the other day. Here is a little sneak peak. I hope everyone has a truly wonderful day!
